Kosei Inoue’s Top 10 Tips: No. 1
September 15, 2009 on 6:53 pm | In Fighting Films, Inoue, Top Tips, Video | No CommentsFighting Films are releasing a triple DVD boxset produced by Kosei Inoue. To help advertise it, each week they are publishing a new top tip from the great man himself.
I thought these were just too good to not put on here.
TIP 1. Always remain faithful to the fundamentals of judo
Inoue insists that it is essential when practising judo to always keep the fundamentals of the sport to mind, regardless of what technique you are executing. By remaining faithful to these fundamentals a judoka can gain the ability to adapt to any situation and successfully apply their skills. For Inoue this means always keeping perfect, upright judo posture and making sure everything he does on the mat is technically flawless.
With Uchikomi every repetition needs to be 100 percent perfect. Inoue says that any imperfections in your form, even if only slight, can compound errors and come through in your technique. It is pointless doing hundreds of Uchikomi at a fast pace unless every single repetition is perfect. Only once you have achieved this level of perfection should you progress on to repetitive training. And then its repetition, repetition, repetition!
Titan Judo Camp 2009
June 17, 2009 on 2:02 pm | In Events, News | No CommentsPaul has put together a two day judo event in Clydebank on the 6th and 7th of August. It’s aimed at youths and seniors and is more about hard work. There are six scheduled sessions, three purely randori and three will be taken by John Buchanan, Graeme Randall and Tony Penfold.
The camp is priced at only £25 which is snip when you look at who you are getting, so please try and get the first Titan Camp off to a flyer and support it. It is situated nicely a few weeks before some big tournaments so if we get the numbers then it will be great training for all who attend. Remember we’re all trying to encourage more club players to get involved so please encourage them to book as well as any performance players who may be interested.
If you need more info please don’t hesitate to get back in touch, contact details are on the registration form.

December 26, 2008 on 1:39 pm | In Events, News | No CommentsCongratulations to everyone who graded.
There were some great performances and those new belts were well earned.
Gary Clarkson has sent me copies of the 2 group photos he took of the class. He has high resolution copies of these, if anyone wants one.

More success for Titans
December 13, 2008 on 10:34 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsLast weekend Stuart Kennedy competed in the -90Kg category at the Granite City Championships. Stuart won his fights convincingly and even put an opponent down in under 10 seconds. With this kind of form Stuart collected a bronze medal for his troubles and kept the Titan name up there at the top.
Some newer seniors coming through are Malky and Craig, they both competed in the national grading at Ratho. Both had a fantastic start and both threw for ippon to cement their first 10 points. A shaky second fight for both but they both soldiered through and battled to win the next contests to get the points they needed to be promoted green belt.
Another more familiar face was at the grading, John Lipsett completed a big chunk of whats required to collect his second Dan. John has worked hard over the last few years and is well on his way to collecting the well earned accolade of 2nd Dan.
Well done to all the guys doing the business for the club.
New Titan Library
October 29, 2008 on 11:49 am | In News | No CommentsCheck out the new Library with all of the masterclass books and some others to add. Hopefully starting with around 20 books. The more people borrow the books the bigger the library can be.
The books should help your judo knowledge grow just as long as you turn up to class to try your new moves out
Another Great Halloween Bash
October 27, 2008 on 1:14 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThis Saturday saw another great night with the Mick Tausney band at the annual Halloween dance. There were lots of fancy dress costumes on show and a great turn out from Saddam Hussein, Darth Maul, Spiderman, Dr Kenny Lingus, Mr Incredible, Amy Winehouse, Daddy Cool, Count Dracula to name a few!!!
Even with the torrential rain and howling wind there was still a great turn out to make the night fantastic and also show support for the club by taking part in the usual coin toss for the bottles.
During the day we held the kids party, wow!! there was all sorts turning up here, from Ben 10 to the Wolf Man, Darth Maul to Indiana Jones. Some fantastic costumes on show and hopefully a fun time had by all.
All the kids put a lot of effort into the costumes, so thank you and keep up the good work.
Hopefully more pics to follow on the flicker button on the right.
Anyone who took some pics please send the good ones to paul@titanjudo.com
More medals from the Titan Terrors
October 22, 2008 on 10:48 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWe had two more juniors fighting recently at the Grangemouth Open Championships. Every year there is a massive entry and 2008 was no different.
Darren Kennedy and Lewis Greig both represented the club in seperate weight categories.
Darren won the bronze medal in his category and was unlucky not to pick up the silver with some questionable refereeing. Darren fought extremely well and gained more experience fighting in this difficult tournament.
Lewis fought extremely well on the day and won all his fights on his way to collecting the gold medal. He won his fights with several different techniques and showed his class with a few ippons.
The boys fought really well and to come away with two medals out of two is an excellent result.
Scottish Age Bands video
September 27, 2008 on 10:38 pm | In Events, Video | No CommentsPaul put together this video of the boys fights from the recent competition.
It did originally have music in it, but Youtube said we were in breach of copyright because of it, so, no music now. Sorry.
Anyway, enjoy. There’s some nice Judo here.
