Instructors

Head Coach and Club Founder Paul McGuinness is a 5th Dan, Level 3 Coach, Judo Scotland/UKCC Coach Education Tutor, Assessor and National Examiner. Paul has a BSc in Exercise and Health and has worked as a Physical Education Lecturer at Clydebank College and now works in the Clydebank area as an Active School Coordinator, he has been a member of the National Team for many years and has represented Scotland several times

Established in 1999, the club has producedmany players but it is also producing many great additions to the coaching staff.

Graeme Randall MBE 6th Dan and 1999 World Judo Champion has now joined our coaching staff and it gives me great pleasure to welcome Graeme to our Tuesday night session at the Antonine.

David McKinnon coaches at the Playdrome class on a Saturday morning and also the development squad on a wednesday night. David is the former West of Scotland Champion in his weight division and the current senior club champion. He is also proficient at Muay Thai Boxing and is a 3rd Dan in Karate although we won’t hold it against him. David is qualified through UKCC.

Lyndsey Coleman – Lyndsey has a BSc in Sports Coaching and a UKCC level 1 in Judo coaching. Lyndsey coaches in all the clubs recreational classes and also works hard as the clubs development coach two days per week delivering a judo programme to the local primary schools. Lyndsey is working on her brown belt at the moment with her sights set on her Level 2 course and the coveted Black belt.

John Lipsett is a 2nd Dan black belt and the clubs technical officer. John is a UKCC level 2 coach and is instrumental in developing the clubs grading structure. Johns valuable years of experience on the mat help the senior players work on their technical skills.

Peter and Zahid are both UKCC level 1 coaches and assist on some of the classes on a wednesday and saturday. Their contribution to the classes is very important to ensure the best for the kids.
