Alright everybody!? Just started judo and I have a few questions I'd like to ask as its all fairly new to me.
When before judo should I eat? Last week I ate an hour and a half before training and felt like I was going to spew on a boys face while grappling, tonight I had a light snack, toast and nutella, before training and by the end of training I felt shakey and light headed.
There is standing and grappling sparring. Is there ever a mix of both or do you have to compete to do this?
Also, tonight I saw one of the most impressive looking martial arts move ever, it looked like an overhead kick, except instead of kicking a ball, a guy got launched 100ft into the air(my measurements might be a bit out;) ). Any idea what that move is called?[/list] |

I usually try to have dinner a couple of hours before. If I eat anything with an hour an a half or less to go, I tend to feel a bit bagged up too.
We do sometimes do Randori with both standing and groundwork. It's really a space and safety issue why we don't do it all the time. As you could imagine, if you've got people rolling around doing newaza at the same time that other people are fighting standing up, it could get a bit dangerous.
Sounds like Tomeonage, and I bet it was Barry that did it. |
