More success for Titans

Last weekend Stuart Kennedy competed in the -90Kg category at the Granite City Championships. Stuart won his fights convincingly and even put an opponent down in under 10 seconds. With this kind of form Stuart collected a bronze medal for his troubles and kept the Titan name up there at the top.

Some newer seniors coming through are Malky and Craig, they both competed in the national grading at Ratho. Both had a fantastic start and both threw for ippon to cement their first 10 points. A shaky second fight for both but they both soldiered through and battled to win the next contests to get the points they needed to be promoted green belt.

Another more familiar face was at the grading, John Lipsett completed a big chunk of whats required to collect his second Dan. John has worked hard over the last few years and is well on his way to collecting the well earned accolade of 2nd Dan.

Well done to all the guys doing the business for the club.

Another Great Halloween Bash

This Saturday saw another great night with the Mick Tausney band at the annual Halloween dance. There were lots of fancy dress costumes on show and a great turn out from Saddam Hussein, Darth Maul, Spiderman, Dr Kenny Lingus, Mr Incredible, Amy Winehouse, Daddy Cool, Count Dracula to name a few!!!

Even with the torrential rain and howling wind there was still a great turn out to make the night fantastic and also show support for the club by taking part in the usual coin toss for the bottles.

During the day we held the kids party, wow!! there was all sorts turning up here, from Ben 10 to the Wolf Man, Darth Maul to Indiana Jones. Some fantastic costumes on show and hopefully a fun time had by all.

All the kids put a lot of effort into the costumes, so thank you and keep up the good work.

More medals from the Titan Terrors

We had two more juniors fighting recently at the Grangemouth Open Championships. Every year there is a massive entry and 2008 was no different.

Darren Kennedy and Lewis Greig both represented the club in seperate weight categories.

Darren won the bronze medal in his category and was unlucky not to pick up the silver with some questionable refereeing. Darren fought extremely well and gained more experience fighting in this difficult tournament.

Lewis fought extremely well on the day and won all his fights on his way to collecting the gold medal. He won his fights with several different techniques and showed his class with a few ippons.

The boys fought really well and to come away with two medals out of two is an excellent result.

August Timetable

A little late, seeing as how August is nearly over, but, better late than never.

We are running a slightly different timetable until the end of August. Make sure to have a look at our timetable so you know when we are on.

Doogan does it

If at first you don’t succeed, don’t come back. This is the advice the coach gave Peter, but as usual he never listened. Just as well, Peter and Stuart completed their Dan grade theory on wednesday night making Peter the clubs 11th Black belt. Both of them worked hard on their theory which was evident with Peter scoring 206 out of a possible 210. Well done again guys.

NEW BLACK BELT FOR THE TITANS

BRIAN TORRANCE HAS BECOME THE NEWEST BLACK BELT IN THE CLUB MAKING HIM OUR 10TH DAN GRADE. THE GRADING WAS HELD AT RATHO, JUDO SCOTLANDS NATIONAL DOJO. ALONGSIDE BRIAN WAS PETER, BARRY AND STUART, ALL FOUGHT EXTREMELY WELL AND ALL COLLECTING POINTS TOWARDS THEIR NEXT GRADE. PETER COLLECTED THE POINTS HE NEEDED AND LEAVES HIM ONLY WITH HIS THEORY TO COMPLETE TO PICK UP HIS BLACK BELT AND BECOME NUMBER 11.

Summer camp update

Thanks to all who have returned their summer camp forms and hope that you enjoy your time at Clydebank College.

We will be based in the PE department gymnasium and entry to this is through the Clarence street side of the college.

A small change to the timetable is that activities for under eights will run from monday to thursday and parents please be aware they will have to be collected at noon every day.

Sessions run from 10-12, collection of under 8′s, Lunch from 12-1pm then over 8′s only from 1-2:45pm.

On the friday of each week we have 12 places on our bus which will be going to M & D’s, Louden Castle, Safari Park Stirling and again to M & D’s. The list of places is nearly full for all weeks and organisers have discretion on who will be attending.
