Titan Judo Camp 2009
June 17, 2009 on 2:02 pm | In Events, News | No CommentsPaul has put together a two day judo event in Clydebank on the 6th and 7th of August. It’s aimed at youths and seniors and is more about hard work. There are six scheduled sessions, three purely randori and three will be taken by John Buchanan, Graeme Randall and Tony Penfold.
The camp is priced at only £25 which is snip when you look at who you are getting, so please try and get the first Titan Camp off to a flyer and support it. It is situated nicely a few weeks before some big tournaments so if we get the numbers then it will be great training for all who attend. Remember we’re all trying to encourage more club players to get involved so please encourage them to book as well as any performance players who may be interested.
If you need more info please don’t hesitate to get back in touch, contact details are on the registration form.

December 26, 2008 on 1:39 pm | In Events, News | No CommentsCongratulations to everyone who graded.
There were some great performances and those new belts were well earned.
Gary Clarkson has sent me copies of the 2 group photos he took of the class. He has high resolution copies of these, if anyone wants one.

Scottish Age Bands video
September 27, 2008 on 10:38 pm | In Events, Video | No CommentsPaul put together this video of the boys fights from the recent competition.
It did originally have music in it, but Youtube said we were in breach of copyright because of it, so, no music now. Sorry.
Anyway, enjoy. There’s some nice Judo here.
Scottish Age bands 2008
September 18, 2008 on 8:56 am | In Events, News | No CommentsWell done to Darren, Stefan & Nathan who all fought extremely well at the Scottish Age Band Championships. They competed in the -42kg, -55kg & -38kg categories. Against some tough opposition the boys performed well by attacking and fighting like champions. The star of the day was Nathan, winning all of his contests by ippon in record time. He eventually lost to get a place in the final by a more experienced player from Aberdeen but shook off the defeat to go on and win his Bronze medal fight in all of 5 seconds.
Well done to all and congratulations to Nathan on the Scottish Bronze medal.

Western Dan & Kyu grade open results
March 23, 2008 on 5:16 pm | In Events, News | No CommentsWe had a team of seniors travel through to Kilmarnock today to compete.
Malky, Craig and Mark all fought for the first time in the yellow and red belt sections respectively, with Craig winning silver and Malky and Mark bringing home a bronze.

David, Peter D and Stuart all fought in the 1st dan section. Stuart narrowly missed out on a medal and David managed to bring home the gold, after seemingly trying to Uchimata everyone in Kilmarnock.
Everyone did well, and hopefully all took something from the day.
Video to follow.
Titan Judo end of year Tag Team championships
December 23, 2007 on 11:53 am | In Events, News | No CommentsThe Playdrome yesterday was witness to some high octane action in the form of our Tag Team Championship.
Tag Team Judo, invented by Paul down the pub one night, features teams of 2 or 3 fighting in a standard Judo match with no time limit and the option to tag out to bring a team mate in, wrestling style. It sounds stupid, and probably is stupid, but it works and is great fun.
After some great fights and some great throws, the championship went to the Titan Top Team of Paul and Craig, with an unbeaten run of 3 wins from 3 matches.
Silver went to the team voted “Best Looking in the Club 2007″, Malky, Peter and me, with 2 wins out of 3 matches.
Bronze went to Steven’s team of him, Barry and Stuart. Last and by all means least came that Titan OAP team of George, John and Graeme.
Special mention has to go to Steven, Craig and Malky for being stupid enough….er, brave enough to agree to take part in this, specially as they are all red or white belts and altogether only weigh about 10 stone. They all put in some great performances for their first try at any sort of competitive Judo.

Paul would like to thank everyone who competed at the club championships and had this to say about the day, “There were some fantastic matches and equally some spectacular throws. Marc, Ross, Andrew C and Nathan were all in with a chance of winning the Player of the year trophy and equally there were some great efforts and attitudes, James fought extremely well to win a silver and his brother George fought great in the same category but the person who stuck out the most for his fighting spirit was Miller Niven, he fought extremely hard on the day which just happened to be his first competition and did really well to keep up with the more experienced guys. In the senior category the story of the day was George Goode showing all the youngsters how to win at the grand age of 53, just goes to show you’re never to old to start. Well done to everyone again.”
